Why we call it Sproutful
Every Sproutful journey has one person at its heart: the sprout.
A sprout grows best when it’s nurtured with the right environment, attention, and care. People are no different. When someone is surrounded by people working together to make their life better, they’re given the best possible chance to grow into their full potential, with greater wellbeing and greater autonomy. That idea sits at the core of everything we do.
It began with a family and a notebook.
Our founder David watched his mother-in-law, Rosa, care for her son Scott, who lives with severe autism. She took notes constantly: her own observations, shift notes from carers, half-remembered handover conversations. She carried all of it to Scott’s psychologist, hoping someone could piece together what was really going on.
“For the first time I could see his whole day, not just the parts I was there for.”
Sproutful was built to close that gap: one shared, living picture in place of scattered notes, so everyone supporting a person can see what’s happening and act while it still matters. When Scott’s family first used it, they saw parts of his life they’d never had a window into before. His care became more consistent, more informed, and more his own.

Longtime friends first, co-founders second. Sproutful is what happened when two mates set out to build something special together.
David Tjomsland
Co-founder
David spent four years teaching high school, including students with disabilities, and three more as a support worker before co-founding the company. His hands-on years of support work and his own family’s journey led him to learn software development and build tools for the disability community.
Tim Ellefson
Co-founder
Tim spent over six years working in software development and technical support before co-founding the company. His experiences as a volunteer with Guide Dogs for the Blind and as a family caregiver have shaped his empathetic approach to building thoughtful tools that help people navigate everyday challenges.
